I was a high school locker room attendant for 4 years. In between washing loads of dirty PE uniforms, I finished up my bachelors degree online and my husband and I had three beautiful babies together. Life was crazy! But my husband was supportive, so I promptly went on to graduate school where I earned my Masters of Education while I worked as a teaching intern for a 1st grade classroom.

I’ve now been teaching elementary for 5+ years. I love working with 5-7 year olds, but I’ve had a creative itch scratching at the back of my mind… On December 31st, 2019, I made a New Year’s Resolution to finish writing a novel by the end of 2020.

Then COVID-19 hit. I was now teaching my 22 students from home with little understanding of HOW to accomplish it. In between caring for my own 3 children, I was coming up with online materials & creating assignments from afar.

I was stressed. I needed a release.

So I wrote a novel.

On October 1st, 2020, I completed my first novel! Now… I just muddle through figuring out how to get someone to publish it.

This site is my online journal recording how I’m trying to juggle everyday family life, a demanding full-time job as an elementary school teacher, and following my dream of becoming a traditionally published author. It is (and is going to be) a rocky road, but I’m learning a lot about writing, navigating the writing community as a newcomer, while still attempting to be a good wife and mother. Hopefully, my tips & tricks help other writers along the way.

Oh, you’re querying, too? Welcome to the club. I’m glad you’re here.
